Falcon Watch Golf Club Newsletter

Dear Bill Meier,

With a busy winter season behind us, an audit of our turf infrastructure at Falcon Watch Golf Club has been completed. The last several weeks has demonstrated that many parts of the infrastructure are in pressing need of either renovations or major upgrades. The primary areas of concern are related to irrigation and drainage. With the cost benefit analysis complete, unfortunately we have determined that the present level of membership, along with the state of the golf industry in general does not support pursuing the substantial renovations and upgrades. Regrettably, in lieu of all the variables we have decided to close both the Cypress and Sands nines at Falcon Watch permanently. The Sands-nine will remain closed and the Cypress-nine will close as of July 1, 2016. The Challenge-nine will be integrated into Scepter Golf Club. Moving forward Scepter Golf Club will operate as a 27-hole gold-level facility being operated out of the Scepter clubhouse. Over the summer months we will continue to work diligently on improving course conditions at Scepter, at the same time our focus will be on bringing the conditions of the Challenge-nine at Falcon Watch to a higher level.

There are presently no plans for the land and buildings related to the closures of Cypress and Sands. The maintenance of the course will change once the golf course is closed for operations. The existing turf will be maintained to Hillsborough County code. We will continue to dialogue with your local governance, both the Federation and Master Association within the community regarding potential future uses for the land and buildings. Regular updates will be provided if there are any changes on any of these fronts.

For all existing Falcon Watch Members, your Home Club membership will be transferred to Scepter with no additional membership or initiation fees or annual dues for the remainder of this membership year. As part of the membership program moving forward, a Scepter Home Club Only membership option will become available. We are finalizing membership programs for the 2016/2017 membership year and will be communicating the final plans to you near the end of the summer. Orientation dates are being organized for you to integrate with the Scepter membership over the next few weeks. These dates will be communicated to you by the local management team.
